This is the first piece that I have come up with and it is currently untitled. The total length of thi mini-story is all of 495 words. Similiar works will be no longer or shorter.

The two middle-aged men sat on the park bench talking quietly to each other on all that had happened that day. They discussed everything from the time their wives woke them up to what time they left work (where they worked on separate floors) early due to calls from the hospital about their wives accidents and their subsequent deaths. Those calls had only been moments apart and yet the calls had been life changing in more ways than loss for each man.

Both men looked ill and heartbroken as they sat next to each other with nary a difference in their physical resemblance. From large wire-framed spectacles around their eyes to the tears streaming down their pale cheeks. They were dressed alike in dark blue button down shirts and black slacks. They wore their hair in the same short style parted on the right side of their head. Both men sat there with only each other and the birds for company as no one else could reach inside their souls and ask the two broken hearted gentlemen what was hurting them so. They talked about their lives with their wives from the day they met their respective spouses to this the last day of their lives. They also talked about how although they both looked alike neither knew of the others existence.

It was odd they decided, that not only did they look alike their wives were also identical. It was another odd choice for identical twins too look alike and marry the same set of identical twins who also had been separated when they were young and knew not of the others existence. Their was a sense of foreboding in the men that if they didn't say what needed to be said now they wouldn't get the chance to say it later on.

All the while they had lived in the same city not more than five miles apart and still they hadn't ever crossed paths until this sad day. And while passersby though that the two of them looked like brothers discussing some sad event there was one person who knew that they had been cheated out of the chance to know each other in life.

And that person felt that since they didn't get the chance to know each other in this life they should have that opportunity in the next life. So just this once he would bend the rules of life and take the two brothers at the same time...just as he had done to their wives. And so with a nod of his all-knowing head both men slouched on the bench where they sat and departed this world by the grace of an all mighty God who could give both joy and heartache with a thought.

And in this instance he had chosen to allow two sets of soul mates the opportunity to live on in the hereafter together for as long as they would choose such an existence.
